Troop 49 meets every Monday at 7:00 pm in the retreat Center at Sheridan Lutheran Church

 

 

Troop 49 has been Chartered since 1959, and currently has 32 active boys. But we would like to grow!!

 

What does Troop 49 have to offer?

 

Equipment: The troop has wall tents, A-frame nylon tents, dining flies, patrol boxes, gas stoves, troop trailer and lots of scouting equipment and activity material. The troop also has access to canoes.

 

Meeting Space: Troop 49 is fortunate to have a long and positive relationship with their sponsor, Sheridan Lutheran Church. The church has provided the troop with the retreat center and the basement of the house for storage. The church also allows the troop to store their troop trailer and other equipment on the church property.

 

Adult Leadership: Troop 49 has a number of qualified, experienced leaders. Scoutmaster Adam Klingenberg was an Eagle Scout himself! But they can't and shouldn't run it all, so parents often help out with many of the activities and travel plans.

 

 

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?

 

Troop Organization:

Troop 49 counts on the boys to lead the troop. This is how they learn many of the leadership, positive role modeling, and organizational skills needed later if life. The troop has patrols organized by age group, with adult leaders supervising closely in the first year or two of involvement. As the boys advance in rank, they gain more experience in running the troop until they eventually have the opportunity to play key roles. Troop 49 has produced 88 Eagle Scouts!! For the new Scouts on Trail to 1^st Class the troop attends Camp Cornhusker and the older scouts have choices on other high adventure opportunities.

 

Service Projects:

The troop participates in a number of service projects from Clean a Mile to Salvation Army Bell ringing and assists in Eagle Scout service projects.

 

Fund Raising:

Troop 49 participates in the Spring popcorn sales or other fund raisers as needed.

 

Cost:

Dues $40 - $45

Scout Shirt-$35 - $40

Boy Scout Handbook-$8
